Help shape the future of our Social Law practice

Are you an experienced social law professional (Social Law and social security) looking to take the next step in your career? Do you enjoy advising businesses on complex legal matters while building trusted client relationships and contributing to business growth?

Grant Thornton is looking for a Legal Manager – Social Law to strengthen its Legal team and support the continued growth of its Social Law practice across Brussels and Wallonia.

In this role, you will combine in-depth expertise in social law and social security law with a strong client focus and a genuine interest in business development. You will advise Belgian and international organisations on a wide range of complex employment and social security law matters while playing an active role in expanding our presence in the French-speaking market.

At Grant Thornton, you'll be part of a multidisciplinary environment where legal professionals work closely with colleagues from Tax, Audit, Accountancy, Advisory and Payroll to deliver integrated, pragmatic and business-oriented solutions.

Your impact

As Legal Manager – Social Law, you will act as a trusted advisor to clients while playing a key role in the continued development of our Social Law practice.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • advising Belgian and international organisations on all aspects of Social Law, social security law, cross-border employment and international mobility matters;

  • managing complex employment and social security law advisory matters, including restructurings, social audits, inspections by the social inspection services, international mobility, payroll implementation projects and HR policies;

  • drafting, reviewing and supporting the implementation of employment contracts, work regulations, internal policies and other Social Law documentation;

  • strengthening relationships with existing clients and identifying additional opportunities across Grant Thornton's broader service offering;

  • actively contributing to business development, with a particular focus on Brussels and Wallonia;

  • representing Grant Thornton at seminars, conferences, client events and networking activities;

  • working closely with colleagues across Tax, Audit, Accountancy, Advisory, Payroll and Legal to deliver integrated client solutions;

  • coaching junior team members and fostering collaboration, knowledge sharing and professional development.

This role goes beyond legal advice. You will become one of the key representatives of our Social Law team in Brussels and Wallonia and actively contribute to its continued growth.

Your profile

You combine strong technical expertise with an entrepreneurial mindset and a business-oriented approach.

We're looking for someone who:

  • holds a Master's degree in Law, preferably with a specialisation in Social Law;

  • has at least six years of relevant experience in social law gained within a law firm, consulting environment or as in-house legal counsel;

  • has solid expertise in social law, social security law and/or international employment matters;

  • is fluent in French and English. Knowledge of Dutch is a strong asset but is not essential;

  • builds trusted relationships with senior stakeholders and enjoys working closely with clients;

  • has a genuine interest in business development, networking and building long-term client relationships;

  • is proactive, takes ownership and enjoys working with a high level of autonomy;

  • combines legal excellence with a pragmatic, business-oriented mindset;

  • enjoys mentoring colleagues and contributing to the development of the team.

What we offer

At Grant Thornton, you'll have the opportunity to take on a visible and strategic role within a growing Legal team. You'll join an entrepreneurial environment where you'll not only advise clients on high-impact matters but also contribute to the further development of our Social Law practice.

We offer:

  • a competitive salary package including a company car, mobile phone subscription, comprehensive insurance benefits, a flexible cafeteria plan and 33.5 days of annual leave;

  • flexible working hours and the opportunity to work from home several days a week;

  • at least 40 hours of training each year, covering both technical expertise and commercial and leadership development;

  • a key role in expanding our Social Law practice across Brussels and Wallonia;

  • significant autonomy, responsibility and room to take initiative;

  • exposure to a diverse portfolio of Belgian and international clients;

  • close collaboration with specialists across Tax, Audit, Accountancy, Advisory, Payroll and Legal;

  • support with business development initiatives, thought leadership, seminars and client events;

  • genuine career progression opportunities based on your contribution, performance and impact;

  • access to Grant Thornton's international network and cross-border expertise;

  • an open, collaborative and entrepreneurial working environment recognised as a Great Place to Work.

Why join Grant Thornton?

This is an opportunity for someone looking for more than a traditional legal advisory role.

You'll have the chance to combine your legal expertise with client relationship management, business development and practice growth while making a real impact on both clients and colleagues.

If you're looking to join an organisation where legal excellence, commercial thinking and entrepreneurship go hand in hand, and where you can help shape the future of our Social Law practice in Brussels and Wallonia, we'd love to hear from you.
