Working in the Public Affairs and Regulatory Affairs team:

The Public Affairs and Regulatory Affairs team plays a crucial role in navigating complex regulations and maintaining relationships with government agencies and other stakeholders. We assist Wyre in achieving its strategic goals by promoting a favorable regulatory environment and advocating for Wyre's interests with policymakers at all levels.

Your Responsibilities as Public Affairs Expert:

At Wyre, we are not just building a new fiber network; we are also committed to building sustainable relationships.

• As a public affairs expert, you are the connecting link between our fiber company and local governments. You will establish relationships with mayors, aldermen, and other local policymakers. Your goal? Ensuring they understand the importance of our fiber network installation.
• You will engage the local community in our plans and ensure they are excited about our fiber network.
• Together with your team members, you will identify the necessary steps to propose policy changes that support our ambitions for digital infrastructure, whether it's adjusting permitting procedures or creating new regulations.
• You will monitor the impact of fiber rollout at the local level, identify obstacles, and work with stakeholders to find solutions.
• You will detect external signals and analyze them together with all necessary internal teams.
• You contribute to building a long-term, sustainable political narrative that supports Wyre’s ambitions, beyond individual permits or incidents.
• You act as the internal reference point for local political strategy, ensuring that political positions, sensitivities and priorities are clearly communicated to relevant internal stakeholders (e.g. rollout teams, legal, operations, communications, management).
• You proactively translate political developments and stakeholder expectations into actionable internal guidance, scenarios and decision-making support.
• You play an escalation and support role for internal colleagues, helping to unblock sensitive or complex dossiers (“hot issues”) by providing political insight, context and relationship leverage.
You facilitate internal alignment moments (briefings, updates, steering discussions) to ensure that Wyre’s local public affairs strategy is understood, shared and carried consistently across the organization

Our ideal Public Affairs Expert:

• You speak and write fluently in Dutch and English.
• You have at least 5 years of experience in public affairs, with a focus on relationship management with local governments and policymakers.
• You have strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to clearly convey complex topics.
• You have proven experience in building and maintaining sustainable relationships within local communities and governments.
• You have strategic thinking skills to identify and implement policy changes together with the management.
• You have a proactive attitude with the ability to independently take initiatives and turn challenges into opportunities.
• You have a thorough knowledge of the local policy context and regulations, preferably within the infrastructure or telecom sector.
• You have an affinity for digital infrastructure and a passion for the impact of fiber technology on society.
