Our Position

Do you enjoy turning raw data into reliable, well-structured datasets that enable business decisions?

We are looking for a Data Engineer to support the development and maintenance of our Azure-based data platform, ensuring data is accessible, high-quality, and fit for purpose.

This is a hands-on, execution-focused data engineering role, where you will work primarily on SQL transformations, data pipelines, and platform optimisation. You will contribute to building robust and scalable data solutions that enable analytics and reporting across the organisation.

At the same time, we expect you to maintain a critical and analytical mindset—questioning existing approaches, identifying inefficiencies, and proposing improvements where relevant. Your input will be valued, and you will be encouraged to share well-founded technical perspectives to help improve the platform and ways of working.

This full-time position is based at our office in Genk, Belgium.

Key Responsibilities

  • You build, monitor and optimize data pipelines using Azure Synapse and Data Factory
  • You design and optimize data storage solutions (Azure Data Lake, Synapse Analytics)
  • You develop and maintain scalable SQL transformations
  • You ensure data quality, reliability, and performance across the platfform
  • You collaborate with analysts and business teams to deliver reliable and usable datasets
  • You support data governance, security, and compliance requirements

In Addition, You

  • Proactively identify and drive improvement opportunities in data models, pipelines, and platform performance
  • Work closely with the Data Lead and Data Architect to discuss and refine technical decisions
  • Stay informed on evolving technologies (e.g. Microsoft Fabric, Databricks) and assess their relevance pragmatically

Your Profile

  • You bring solid experience in data engineering (typically 5 years), preferably within an Azure-based environment
  • You have completed a master’s degree in Data, IT, or Economics, or you possess an equivalent level of analytical and practical skills based on your experience.
  • You have strong SQL skills and experience with modern data platforms and transformation processes
  • You are familiar with data modelling and schema design principles
  • You are comfortable working with large datasets and building efficient, scalable pipelines
  • Experience with Python is not required but would be beneficial
  • You combine a hands-on, execution-driven mindset with the ability to critically assess technical solutions
  • You proactively challenge existing approaches and clearly communicate ideas for improvement
  • You collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • You communicate fluently in English, knowledge of Dutch is a plus.
  • You are curious about new technologies and continuously look for practical improvements
