We are looking for an Africa Retail Finance Counsel to strengthen our Retail Finance – Africa Division

Areas of Responsibility

As Africa Retail Finance Counsel, you will play a key role in supporting customer finance transactions across the African market. You will work closely with commercial teams, external legal counsels, customers and distributors to ensure smooth, compliant and business-oriented financing operations.

Your responsibilities include:

• Drafting, reviewing and managing finance agreements related to customer financing transactions in Africa
• Overseeing the full documentation process from negotiation to execution and registration
• Providing legal guidance and coordinating litigation matters when required
• Ensuring legal compliance while minimizing risks for the relevant Komatsu entities
• Acting as the main point of contact between external legal counsels, customers, distributors and internal stakeholders
• Supporting the commercial teams by ensuring timely and accurate implementation of financial transactions
• Prioritizing tasks based on business needs and commercial dynamics
• Identifying opportunities to improve contracts, documentation and legal processes
• Acting as a subject matter expert in commercial law within the African Division
• Reviewing insurance policies in collaboration with the commercial teams and brokers
• Contributing proactively to the continuous development and growth of the business
• Understanding the broader business impact of your work and contributing to the overall success of Komatsu Finance

What we’re looking for

• Master’s degree in Law (or equivalent through experience)
• 1–3 years of relevant experience
• Experience in trade finance/export finance is a plus
• Strong contract management skills from A to Z
• Pragmatic mindset with excellent problem-solving abilities
• Team player who enjoys working across cultures and jurisdictions
• Good command of French and English
